"Roger took the reins of Winnebago-Boone County Friends of NRA after the 2021 event, and worked all year gathering donations and selling tables for the 2022 event. In addition, Roger attends and supports events all across Northern and Central Illinois. He shows up early to almost every event to help with setup as well as auctioneering and catching bids. He even visits local gun clubs to talk to them about Friends of NRA and the importance of having their support.
Roger is a natural leader in both his professional and personal life who leads by example. His dedication to the Friends of NRA program is contagious, and it leads people to get involved. Currently, he is building a committee of volunteers that want to grow the Winnebago-Boone County event into the premiere event to attend in Northern Illinois. Roger has also built relations with committee members from across Illinois by attending and assisting with other Friends of NRA events. Those relationships were visible at the 2022 Winnebago-Boone County Friends of NRA event where members from 5 other committees came to help setup and support the event!
In 2022, Roger helped at more than 14 other Friends of NRA events with setup, teardown, auctioneering, and running raffles. He also was critical in making a brand-new event in Northern Illinois a High Caliber event by underwriting the mailer for it. In addition, he attended the State Fund Grant meeting as a nonvoting member last year, and will be attending this year as a voting member.
It is an absolute pleasure to nominate Roger Needham as a 2022 Volunteer of the Year. He deserves recognition for his endless dedication to Friends of NRA and the revenue he has been responsible for in the past year. He has helped raise nearly $100,000 NET dollars across the two events and a special event. He was a key contributor to this past year, and plans for that amount to be much greater next year!"
