4-Person Best Ball Tournament Rules
Friends of NRA Charity Golf Tournament
Format: 4-Person Best Ball
Date: October 9, 2026
Location: Indian Hills Country Club
1. Team Format
- Each team consists of 4 golfers.
- Each golfer plays their own ball throughout the round.
- All four players play each hole.
- The team's lowest score on each hole is recorded as the team score.
- The team with the lowest total score at the end of the round wins.
2. Scoring
- Record the best 1 score from the team on each hole.
- Example: If the four players score 4, 5, 5, and 6, the team records a 4.
- Mark the player's initials next to the score used for the team score.
- If a team has a tie, the tournament committee will use a scorecard playoff to determine the winner.
3. Play From the Tee
- Players may play from the designated tees assigned by the tournament.
- All players must follow the course's tee and cart rules.
- Players must play their own ball from tee to hole.
4. Lost Ball / Out of Bounds
- Follow the applicable USGA Rules of Golf and Indian Hills Country Club local rules.
- Play a provisional ball when appropriate.
- Pace of play is important—please keep up with the group ahead.
5. Mulligans
- No mulligans unless specifically authorized by the tournament committee.
6. Maximum Score
- For tournament pace of play, the tournament committee may establish a maximum score per hole.
- Once the maximum score is reached, pick up and move to the next hole as directed.
7. Tournament Contests
Awards may include:
- 1st Place Team
- 2nd Place Team
- Longest Drive
- Closest to the Pin
- Additional contests may be announced before play.
8. Ties
- In the event of a tie for a winning position, the tournament committee will determine the winner using a scorecard playoff, beginning with the designated playoff holes.
9. Pace of Play
- Please maintain a good pace and keep up with the group ahead.
- Be ready to play when it is your turn.
- Limit time spent searching for lost balls.
- Follow all instructions from tournament officials and course staff.
10. Final Authority
The Tournament Committee has final authority regarding tournament rules, scoring, disputes, and interpretation of local rules.
