Each year, Friends of NRA fundraising events are held across Wisconsin and throughout the country. Half of the net proceeds from these events are granted back to the state where they were raised. The NRA Foundation then reviews all grant applications and awards funding to eligible projects that advance the shooting sports.
With support from a 2025 NRA Foundation grant, along with contributions from additional donors and countless volunteer hours, the club recently completed the installation of new concrete walkways on its trap range. These improvements replace aging walkways and ensure the range remains safe and accessible.

Before
The project represents more than just an infrastructure upgrade; it’s an investment in the future of shooting sports and in the individuals who make up the community. With the new improvements, the Viola Sportsman’s Club can continue introducing new shooters to the sport in an inclusive, supportive environment.

After
On behalf of the Viola Sportsman’s Club, Club President Phil F., expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the Friends of NRA volunteers who made this possible:
“We truly recognize and appreciate the hard work, dedication, and continued support of the Coulee Region Friends of NRA committee. Their commitment to supporting shooting sports and local clubs like ours makes a lasting difference. I understand that volunteering with organizations like Friends of NRA takes tremendous dedication—often requiring personal time and sacrifice. I want to personally thank the entire committee for their efforts and for investing in the future of shooting sports.”

“The NRA Foundation is proud to support projects like this one, where local volunteers, donors, and sportsmen come together to strengthen their community, preserve traditions, and ensure access to the shooting sports for all,” said Lauri Mayer, Friends of NRA Field Representative. “We’re proud to know that our grant helped make this project possible and that it’s improving accessibility, safety, and the overall shooting experience for the Viola Sportsman’s Club and future generations of shooters. It’s exactly the kind of community impact we strive for.”
Thank you to the Coulee Region Friends of NRA and everyone involved with the Viola Sportsman’s Club for making this project possible!
