Friends of NRA Event Services Coordinator Nicole McMahon, who works directly with NRA Field Representatives throughout the country, brings NRAblog.com readers as many profiles of Field Representatives as possible. This week, we’re headed to Tennessee to meet Area 43 Field Representative Mike Webb.

Nicole McMahon: Which geographic area(s) do you cover?
Mike Webb: The entire state of Tennessee.

NM: When did you start your NRA field rep career?
MW: February 2006.

NM: What drew you to the job?
MW: I was chairman of the Memphis Friends of NRA for five consecutive years along with being a huge supporter of our Second Amendment, the NRA, and the NRA Foundation.

NM: What is unique about your particular geographic area?
MW: It expands from the Delta area into the Appalachian Mountains. Being that Tennessee is a long and narrow state; you can drive eight hours and never leave. Bristol is closer to Canada than it is to Memphis, and Memphis is closer to the Gulf of Mexico than it is to Bristol.

NM: How many traveled miles do you average a year?
MW: 45,000

NM: What’s the best part of your job?
MW: Seeing firsthand the results of the youth shooting sports and Eddie Eagle GunSafe® programs throughout the state of Tennessee, which have been funded by The NRA Foundation grants, made possible by the great volunteers and the generous attendees, sponsors, and donors of the Tennessee Friends of NRA.

NM: Do you have a particularly memorable story about a banquet from your area?
MW: The East Tennessee Friends of NRA committee, which is the eighth oldest banquet in the state, has tried for several years to be in the High Caliber Club. When the committee finished counting at the end of their event this year, they had finally achieved the High Caliber Club status. Their excitement and enthusiasm was something to be seen when they realized their accomplishment! This committee always has some of the most unique items donated for their live auction, such as a Class 3 Ruger 10/22 and an AR-15 rifle customized with the John Deere theme. Not only is the chairman of their committee the Tennessee State Fund Grant chairman but Mr. Bill Huff was also named the Tennessee Volunteer of the Year for 2008.

NM: Is there anything else about your Friends of NRA experience you’d like to share?
MW: I’ve met volunteers from all walks of life across the state of Tennessee that all share the same common interest in supporting the NRA. When you get to share in the accomplishments of our youth and know that your work has helped contribute and shape their lives not only in defending our Second Amendment, but teaching them skills that will last a lifetime, you just have to feel really good about what you do.
