Friends of NRA 2009 Volunteer of the Year Among Top 5 in the Nation

Ron Tarrant, Southeastern Oklahoma Friends of NRA Committee Chairman, Wilburton, Oklahoma, was presented Oklahoma's 2009 Volunteer of the Year Award at the State Conference in Oklahoma City, on February 20, 2010, by Senior Field Rep. Darren DeLong.

Tarrant was also selected as the Mid West Regional winner, chosen from all of the Friends of NRA volunteers in the Mid West Region which consists of Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota.

In 2004, Tarrant organized the Southeastern Oklahoma Friends of NRA Committee with eight committee members. Each year the committee has increased in the number of members, sponsorships and net sales. Tarrant says he feels very humble about the award and says he didn't earn the title by himself and could not have reached this achievement without the help and hard work of his committee members. Tarrant is very passionate about our country and the 2nd Amendment. He believes "The Friends of NRA teaches our children gun safety and the responsibility of owning and using fire arms. The funds we raise are used to give our kids the tools to compete in the shooting sports and to instill in them the knowledge of our rights by the 2nd Amendment, so the freedom we know now will continue for generations to come."

Tarrant has used his imagination in creating projects to help raise funds for the SE OK committee. Today, some of his ideas have been utilized in committees across Oklahoma and the United States.
