August 20, 2009 - Sheffield, AL - In previous years the NW Alabama Friends of NRA Committee, while working very hard, couldn't rally the community. But this wasn't the case for 2009. Committee Chairman Reece Stewart mentioned that if it weren't for the additional committee members that came on this year and the continued dedication from seasoned members this would have been just like the previous years. The NW Alabama Committee grew from $3,000 in 2008 to nearly $10,000. This wouldn't have been possible without the generousity of area businesses who donated many items for the silent auction and door prizes and especially our sponsors:

September 3, 2009 - Huntsville, AL - After a few years at the Redstone Officer's Club the Huntsville Friends of NRA Committee decided a change of venue was due. New Committee Chairman Mike Parsons, a retired USAF Lt. Colonel, moved the event to the Mariott by NASA's Space Center. While the banquet had seen modest success in the past not many people expected the amazing attendance and amount of funds raised. Nearly 200 people attended and helped us raise just over $10,000.

So be proud of yourself Northern Alabama. You're a big reason we're well on our way to setting records and will have plenty of funding available for our many deserving grant applicants.
